India, May 9 -- A rapid survey of functional cooperative societies in Delhi has commenced to assess their contribution to the economy and employment generation, officials said on Friday.

The survey, being undertaken by the Union Ministry of Cooperation across the country, will conclude in September, according to a circular issued by the Registrar Cooperative Societies, Delhi Government.

The survey aims to assess the cooperative sector's contribution to the economy, and includes estimation of Gross Value Added, Gross Value Output, and employment generation by these bodies.
