India, May 22 -- The Election Commission has announced that Rajya Sabha elections for 26 seats across 12 states will be held on June 18, setting the stage for possible changes in the political balance of the Upper House.

Current projections indicate that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could see a slight reduction in its tally, while the Congress-led opposition may improve its position.

According to political estimates based on current Assembly numbers, the NDA, which presently holds 18 of the seats going to polls, is expected to secure 17 seats.

The Congress-led bloc could improve its strength, while the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) may also gain representation.
