Rahul Gandhi moves MP High Court, expresses regret in defamation case filed by Kartikeya Singh
India, June 25 -- Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has moved the Madhya Pradesh High Court expressing regret in a defamation case filed by Kartikeya Singh Chouhan, son of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The case stems from a complaint filed in a Bhopal court, where Kartikeya Singh alleged that remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during an election rally in Jhabua in 2018 linked his name to references connected with the Panama Papers controversy, thereby harming his reputation.
In his application before the High Court, Gandhi's legal team stated that the remarks were not intended to refer specifically to Kartikeya Singh and sought relief from the summons issued by the lower court. The Congress leader ...
