India, May 10 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that the war between Russia and Ukraine could be nearing its conclusion, while also expressing readiness to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a third country if a long-term peace agreement is finalised.

Speaking to reporters in Moscow after Russia's Victory Day celebrations, Putin said, "I think the matter is coming to an end," raising cautious optimism over possible diplomatic progress in the prolonged conflict.

The remarks came shortly after Russia and Ukraine agreed to a three-day ceasefire and a large-scale prisoner exchange involving 1,000 prisoners from each side.
