India, Aug. 3 -- A police sub-inspector has been arrested here following a complaint lodged by a woman that he allegedly assaulted and threatened her, police said in a statement.

According to the police, the sub-inspector was arrested on Sunday.

The police said that on August 1, the complainant submitted a written application at the Ashiana police station, levelling serious allegations against Sub-Inspector (SI) Dharmveer Shahi, who was investigating a case previously registered.

The complainant alleged that during the investigation of the said case, Shahi engaged in obscene conversations with her, established physical relations under the pretext of marriage, subsequently assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
