India, Oct. 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs.13,000 crore during his visit to Chennai on Sunday.

A multi-tier security arrangement is in place across the city ahead of his visit, with police introducing traffic diversions along his transit routes.

Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Poonamallee-Vadapalani stretch of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, built at a cost of around Rs.4,900 crore, along with projects across the highways, railways, ports, petroleum and education sectors.
