PM Modi meets world's oldest living land animal Jonathan during Seychelles visit
India, June 27 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jonathan, the world's oldest living land animal, during his visit to the Seychelles National Botanical Gardens. The visit formed part of his engagements in Seychelles as the two countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations.
Jonathan, a Seychelles giant tortoise believed to have been born in 1832, is estimated to be around 194 years old. Recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest living land animal, the tortoise remains one of Seychelles' most iconic attractions despite age-related vision and smell impairments.
