India, May 11 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held a roadshow in Gujarat's Somnath ahead of participating in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav celebrations marking 75 years of the inauguration of the restored Somnath temple.

Large crowds gathered along the nearly 1.5-kilometre route from the helipad to Veer Hamirji Circle near the famous Somnath Temple to welcome the Prime Minister. People waved flags and raised slogans as his convoy passed through the area.

Artists from various parts of the country, including West Bengal, performed traditional cultural dances during the roadshow celebrations.

PM Modi had arrived in Jamnagar on Sunday night as part of his two-day Gujarat visit before travelling to Somnath on Monday morning.
