India, June 18 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump have directed officials from both countries to expedite negotiations on a balanced, mutually beneficial and commercially meaningful trade agreement. The decision came during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two leaders reviewed progress in talks on an interim bilateral trade pact and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is scheduled to visit India next week to advance discussions on the proposed agreement.
