India, June 9 -- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday welcomed the breakthrough of the strategically important Zojila Tunnel and urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to help establish regular direct air connectivity to Kargil.

Speaking at the tunnel breakthrough ceremony in Minimarg, Abdullah described the milestone as a major step towards achieving all-weather connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh. He congratulated the people of Ladakh and thanked the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for advancing the ambitious infrastructure project.
