India, April 29 -- The Government on Tuesday ruled out a hike in petrol prices, amidst speculations that an increase was imminent after the Bengal polls on Wednesday. The assertion also came at a time when international oil prices touched 110 dollars a barrel due to the ongoing West Asia conflict.

"There is no proposal to increase petrol and diesel prices," Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said at a news briefing on the fallout of developments in West Asia.
