India, July 14 -- Nine people have been arrested after a family was allegedly chased for nearly 20 kilometres and attacked in Maharashtra's Nashik district for objecting to the alleged harassment of a woman. The incident took place near Bhavli Dam in Igatpuri, where the family of eight had gone for a picnic. According to the complaint, two men allegedly harassed a woman from the family, leading to an argument when her relatives confronted them.

Police said the situation escalated when several more people joined the accused. As the family tried to leave, they were allegedly followed by a group armed with iron rods and sticks, who intercepted their vehicle multiple times, assaulted the occupants, and damaged the car.
