India, July 6 -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has referred to India as one of Israel's strong international supporters, countering remarks made by US Vice President JD Vance suggesting that the United States remains Israel's only powerful ally.

Netanyahu said Israel enjoys backing from multiple countries, including what he described as "a small country called India," highlighting its population strength and growing diplomatic support.

"We have some other friends, like a small country called India, you know, it has 1.4 billion people and, boy, do we have tremendous support there," Netanyahu said, adding that he has also seen widespread support for Israel from Indian users on social media platforms.
