India, June 10 -- Chief of the Naval Staff Krishna Swaminathan called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, officials said.

The meeting was confirmed by the President's office, which shared an image of the interaction on social media platform X. According to the post, Admiral Swaminathan met the President as part of a routine courtesy call following his recent appointment.

Admiral Swaminathan assumed charge as the 27th Chief of the Naval Staff on May 31, succeeding Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi after the latter completed 41 years of distinguished service in the Indian Navy.
