India, Sept. 23 -- Moroccan voters headed to the polls on Wednesday to elect a new parliament, in a vote shaped by growing frustration among young people, high unemployment despite a strong economy, and demands for better schools, hospitals and housing.

Voting centres across the North African kingdom opened from 8 am to 7 pm local time, with nearly 16 million registered voters choosing representatives for the 395-seat House of Representatives. The outcome will determine the next prime minister and government, which will govern alongside a monarchy that retains broad authority over strategic affairs. Results are expected Thursday.
