India, June 14 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in France next week on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, the White House has confirmed.

The announcement comes as Prime Minister Modi departed on Saturday for a week-long official visit to France and Slovakia. In his departure statement, PM Modi emphasised the strong and growing partnership with France.

"France occupies a special place in India's strategic vision. Earlier this year, President Macron visited India, and we elevated our relationship to a Special Global Strategic Partnership," PM Modi said.
