India, June 16 -- A large procession has been planned in Bharuch amid an ongoing dispute concerning the historical origins and heritage status of the city's Jama Masjid, leading to heightened tensions in the area.

Organisers associated with a heritage conservation campaign have called for the rally, which is expected to draw participants from different parts of Gujarat as well as neighbouring Maharashtra. Religious leaders, community representatives, and supporters have gathered in significant numbers ahead of the march.
