India, May 8 -- A 41-year-old inmate lodged in Mandoli jail in northeast Delhi was allegedly stabbed by fellow prisoners inside the prison premises, prompting police to register a case and launch an investigation into the assault, officials said on Thursday.
The incident came to light after Harsh Vihar police received information from GTB Hospital regarding the admission of an injured inmate from Mandoli jail on May 6. During the inquiry, the injured prisoner was identified as Javed, son of Kamsuddin, who is currently lodged in Mandoli jail in connection with a narcotics case registered at Seemapuri police station under the NDPS Act.
