India, Sept. 2 -- In a tragic incident, a niece of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bristy Mukherjee, was found dead in at her Birbhum district house, West Bengal, police said on Tuesday.

The body of Bristi Mukherjee (28), the daughter of Banerjee's maternal cousin Nihar Mukherjee, was recovered from a room on the second floor of her house at Kusumba village in Rampurhat area on Tuesday afternoon.

Nihar Mukherjee had previously served as the Trinamool Congress president of Rampurhat-I block.
