Mamata Banerjee attacks rebel leaders with 'Girgiti' poem after Bengal Election setback
India, May 29 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a sharp attack on internal dissenters within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) through a strongly worded poem titled "Girgiti", following the party's recent electoral setback in the state.
The poem, which translates to "Chameleon", is being seen as a direct message to rebel leaders and functionaries who have either resigned from organisational posts or openly criticised the party leadership after the poll rout.
In her poem, Banerjee used the metaphor of a chameleon to describe individuals who frequently change loyalty and political positions, accusing them of opportunism and betrayal during a critical phase for the party.
