India, June 9 -- A major fire broke out at an old tyre warehouse in the Shilphata Goteghar area of Thane on Tuesday, triggering panic among residents after thick smoke engulfed the surrounding locality.

According to officials, the fire was reported in the early hours, following which multiple fire brigade teams from Thane were immediately rushed to the spot to control the blaze.

Firefighters launched a large-scale operation to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. Efforts were ongoing to bring the situation fully under control.
