India, Sept. 26 -- A petition has been moved before the Madras High Court seeking a CBI investigation into the Chennai police decision to close a POCSO case involving Gem Granites owner R Veeramani. The petition was filed by video journalist and Whistle Blowers Activist Trust founder Varaaki. It alleges investigative lapses, undue influence and an illegal payment of Rs 40 crore to derail the investigation. These allegations have not been established by a court.

The case was registered in October 2025 after a complainant received a pen drive and a letter containing footage that allegedly showed the sexual abuse of a minor. Police named Veeramani and another person as accused but filed a further-action-dropped report in February 2026.
