Ladakh sees 43% jump in tourist arrivals in 2026, May records 121% growth
India, June 6 -- Ladakh has recorded a significant surge in tourist arrivals in 2026, with visitor numbers rising by more than 43 per cent during the first five months of the year, according to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.
Sharing the figures on social media, Saxena said the Union Territory welcomed 1,17,546 tourists between January and May 2026, compared to 81,827 visitors during the same period last year, marking a year-on-year growth of 43.65 per cent.
May emerged as a standout month for tourism in the region, registering a remarkable 121.20 per cent increase in arrivals. Official data showed that 72,834 tourists visited Ladakh in May 2026, more than double the 32,927 arrivals recorded in May 2025.
