India, July 13 -- A Konkan Railway employee was honoured with a Rs.10,000 cash reward after rescuing a passenger from a near-fatal accident at Murdeshwar Railway Station in Karnataka. The dramatic rescue, captured on CCTV, has gone viral on social media.

Ganapathi Naik, a pointsman with Konkan Railway, sprang into action after spotting a 22-year-old passenger attempting to get off Train No. 16312 while it was still moving. The passenger lost his balance and came dangerously close to falling into the gap between the train and the platform before Naik pulled him to safety within seconds.
