India, June 27 -- The Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Cell (BJMC) has filed a police complaint seeking the registration of an FIR against former Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim and former councillors Anwar Khan and Shams Iqbal, alleging their role in permitting illegal constructions that allegedly led to recent warehouse and building collapses in the city.

The complaint was submitted at Taratala Police Station following the devastating warehouse collapse on Transport Depot Road in Taratala, which claimed 16 lives. The BJMC alleged that repeated structural collapses in the Kolkata Port area were the result of unauthorised construction, negligence and possible criminal conspiracy.
