India, Sept. 17 -- Tension prevailed in the Three Town area of Khammam city in Telangana on Wednesday, September 16, as residents protested the proposed demolition of their houses for a road-widening project.

According to residents, officials had marked the affected houses and served notices about a week ago. Residents of Srinivas Nagar staged a protest at the Church Compound area in the evening, which continued late into the night.

A police contingent was deployed following the protest, with ACP (Town) A.V. Ramana Murthy reaching the spot to monitor the situation. Protesters raised slogans against the Congress government.
