India, July 2 -- A 29-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband in Karnataka's Dharwad district, with police claiming the murder followed repeated dowry demands and verbal abuse over her weight and inability to conceive. The incident took place in Hanasi village of Navalgund taluk, where the victim, Priyanka Kamalakar, was found dead after an alleged domestic dispute.

According to police, Priyanka had married Basavaraj Waddar in 2024. Her family alleged that after the marriage, Basavaraj and his relatives repeatedly harassed her for additional cash and gold.
