Karnataka clears 8.82 lakh pending traffic E-Challans, collects Rs 26.37 crore in 18 days
India, July 9 -- The Karnataka government has settled more than 8.82 lakh pending traffic e-challan cases in just 18 days after introducing a 50 per cent concession on traffic fines, collecting over Rs 26.37 crore under the scheme.
The concession, which came into effect on June 21, applies to pending traffic e-challans registered by the Police Department. The initiative was launched to reduce the backlog of unpaid traffic violations, ease the burden on courts and encourage motorists to clear long-pending dues.
According to official data, 8,82,290 pending e-challan cases were settled between June 21 and July 8, generating Rs 26,37,79,300 in revenue for the state.
