India, Oct. 27 -- A 25-year-old software engineer allegedly died by suicide after jumping into Durgam Cheruvu from the cable bridge in Madhapur on Monday.

According to Madhapur police, the deceased has been identified as Rajesh, a native of Visakhapatnam who worked at a private IT firm. He was staying at a hostel in Nacharam.

Police said Rajesh had gone to Ayyappa Society in Madhapur on Monday to meet his friends. He later went to the to the cable bridge and jumped into the lake.

Based on a complaint filed by his sister, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Disaster Response Force (DRF) are searching the lake for his body.
