India, July 19 -- Ishqnama, a Punjabi romantic drama, starring Jayy Randhawa and Shehnaaz Gill, is set for a theatrical release on July 24, 2026. Inspired by a true love story, the film is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan border in the 1980s. A poignant love story of Nimma, a Sikh poet from Indian Punjab, and Naseema, a Muslim girl from Pakistan's Punjab, the film explores the wounds of partition that separated their love.

Speaking at an event, actor Jayy Randhawa described Ishqnama as a story of true love. He expressed his love for Punjab for shaping his identity and journey and added that while the film will debut in Punjabi, the makers hope to bring it to a larger audience in other languages.
