India, June 11 -- Tensions in the Gulf region escalated sharply after a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force issued a strong warning to the United States following renewed military strikes on southern Iranian cities.

Brigadier General Seyed Majid Mousavi warned that Iran would respond forcefully if US operations in and around the Strait of Hormuz continued, saying the situation could "turn the region into hell," according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
