India, May 18 -- Iran's top security body has announced the formation of a new authority to manage operations in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating tensions in the West Asia region.

The newly created body, named the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), will oversee maritime movement and provide real-time updates on activities in the Strait, according to a post shared on Iran's Supreme National Security Council's official social media account.

The announcement comes at a time of heightened regional instability, with Iran, Israel, and other regional powers engaged in ongoing military and diplomatic tensions.
