India, June 8 -- Indian Railways is set to roll out a major upgrade to its Passenger Reservation System (PRS) from August, introducing enhanced booking capacity, artificial intelligence-based waitlist predictions, and a more seamless ticket booking experience for passengers.

The upgraded system will gradually replace the existing reservation platform, which has been in operation since 1986. Railway officials say the modernization aims to improve efficiency, accommodate growing online demand, and make railway services more user-friendly.
