India, June 30 -- The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued six fishermen from a distressed fishing boat during a challenging overnight search and rescue operation off the coast of Mangaluru in Karnataka, demonstrating swift response and operational readiness amid rough sea conditions.

According to the Coast Guard, the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Manju Matha sent out a VHF radio distress call at around 4 pm on Monday after suffering severe flooding and hull damage approximately 33 nautical miles off the Surathkal coast. The incident placed the lives of all six crew members at immediate risk.
