Indian Army swiftly neutralises UXO World War II Vintage in Assam
India, May 2 -- On April 30, 2026, an unexploded ordnance (UXO) (World War 2 vintage) measuring approximately 12 inches in length and 6 inches in diameter was found at Ledo, Lekhapani in Assam. The UXO was found in civilian area, posing a potential threat to life and property.
Responding promptly to the information, Red Shield Sappers of the Indian Army swiftly mobilised a Bomb Disposal team to the site.
The team immediately secured the area, evacuated civilians from the vicinity and established a safe perimeter, ensuring strict adherence to all safety protocols.
