India's Russian Oil imports rise in May as refiners increase purchases
India, June 14 -- India's imports of Russian crude oil increased significantly in May 2026 as domestic refiners stepped up purchases from Moscow, reinforcing Russia's position as one of India's key energy suppliers.
According to a report by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), India remained the world's second-largest buyer of Russian fossil fuels during the month. Russian hydrocarbon imports were estimated at around €5.8 billion (approximately $6.7 billion).
Crude oil accounted for the majority of these imports, making up nearly 83% of the total value. CREA reported that India's overall crude oil imports rose by about 8% in May compared to April, while imports from Russia jumped by 21% during the same period. S...
