India, June 4 -- India has established around 5,200 ethanol fuel stations across the country as part of its push towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Wednesday.

Speaking at an event promoting flex-fuel mobility, Puri said the expansion of ethanol infrastructure is a major step towards reducing dependence on imported crude oil, lowering carbon emissions and boosting farmers' incomes through increased demand for biofuel feedstock.
