Hyderabad school fires teacher over alleged 'Kalma' homework for class 2 students
India, July 16 -- A private school in Hyderabad has terminated a teacher after she was accused of assigning the recitation of the Kalma and Surah Fatiha as homework to Class 2 students, triggering protests from parents and political groups. The controversy began after a student's family alleged that their child had been asked to memorise and recite Islamic prayers as part of a homework assignment.
Following the complaint, the school management dismissed the teacher and barred her from future employment within its group of educational institutions. Parents and local BJP leaders staged protests outside the school, demanding action against the management and an investigation into the incident.
