India, Sept. 24 -- A 55-year-old police Sub-Inspector died after being allegedly hit by an unidentified motorcycle while he was deployed for Ganesh idol immersion duty at Crane-2 on NTR Marg on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as K Venkanna, a Sub-Inspector attached to Kothagudem Two Town police station.

According to police, Venkanna was performing duty on NTR Marg when an unidentified motorcycle struck him before fleeing the spot. The impact caused the officer to lose his balance and fall onto the road.

Initially believing that he had suffered only minor injuries, Venkanna decided to return to Warangal. However, after reaching the city, he developed giddiness and was taken to MGM Hospital for treatment.
