Hundreds of fish found dead in Delhi's Sanjay Lake amid heatwave and water crisis
India, May 22 -- Hundreds of fish were found dead at Sanjay Lake in East Delhi's Trilokpuri area as rapidly falling water levels and severe heatwave conditions created an environmental crisis.
The disturbing sight of fish floating in shallow water and dried patches of the lake bed has raised concerns among residents and environmental experts.
According to officials, one of the major reasons behind the situation is the ongoing repair work of a key pipeline that supplies treated water from the Kondli Sewage Treatment Plant to the lake.
The reduced inflow of water, combined with extreme temperatures, reportedly caused oxygen levels in the water to drop significantly.
