Historic Milestone as 1st Batch of Women Cadets Commissioned as Officers in Defence Forces
India, June 14 -- India marked a historic moment in its military history as the first batch of women cadets graduated and were commissioned as officers through a training programme that previously admitted only male candidates. The commissioning ceremony was held at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, symbolizing a major step toward gender inclusion in the armed forces.
The women cadets successfully completed rigorous military training alongside their male counterparts and were commissioned into different branches of the Indian Armed Forces.
Their graduation follows a landmark Supreme Court decision that opened the doors of the NDA to women, allowing them to compete and train for officer roles on an equal footing.
