India, Aug. 27 -- Two people were arrested after police seized 1.48 kg of heroin valued at around Rs 10.5 crore in Assam's Kokrajhar district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The contraband was recovered from a container vehicle during a police operation at Damrapara, where the heroin had allegedly been concealed in 131 soap cases.

Sarma shared details of the seizure in a post on X on Wednesday, saying the Kokrajhar Police intercepted the vehicle and busted the alleged attempt to transport the drugs.

"Heroin hidden, busted in time," the chief minister said, adding that two accused persons had been arrested in connection with the seizure.

The police are expected to investigate the source of the heroin, its intended destination...
