Heavy rain, thunderstorms disrupt traffic in Kolkata as IMD issues red alert for South Bengal
India, June 25 -- Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms disrupted normal life and traffic movement across Kolkata and adjoining districts on Thursday, after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for parts of South Bengal.
Continuous rain led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas of the city, slowing vehicular movement and causing congestion on major roads during peak hours. Commuters faced delays as visibility dropped and traffic flow was severely affected in multiple pockets.
