India, Aug. 24 -- A 56-year-old man of Gujarati origin was shot dead during an armed robbery at a liquor store in the US on Thursday night. His 19-year-old daughter was reportedly standing beside him when the gunman opened fire in the store in Jackson, Tennessee.

The victim was identified by the Jackson Police Department as Suresh Patel, who was killed at Ridgecrest Cellars on Ridgecrest Road at around 9 pm on August 20. According to police, an armed man entered the store, demanded money from employees and fled after taking the cash.

Before escaping, the suspect fired several shots inside the premises, striking Patel, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
