India, July 28 -- Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday launched the Gujarat Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Policy 2026, aimed at transforming the state into a leading national and global centre for shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing.

With Gujarat having India's longest coastline of around 2,340 km, the policy seeks to leverage the state's port infrastructure, industrial ecosystem and maritime heritage. It focuses on modern infrastructure, advanced technology, sustainable development and investor-friendly measures.

The policy is aligned with the Centre's Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme 2025, Maritime Vision 2047 and the broader vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A key feature...
