India, May 16 -- A landlord in Morbi has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman and her 13-year-old daughter after the family failed to pay house rent, police said.

The complaint was lodged on May 1 by the victims' mother and grandmother at Morbi City A Division police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.

According to police, the family had moved to Morbi around six months ago for work and was staying in a rented house for Rs 2,000 per month. Investigators alleged that the rent dues increased after the husband's business suffered losses.
