Gujarat completes 2.21 Crore cubic metres earthwork to strengthen water bodies
India, May 20 -- The Gujarat government has completed approximately 2.21 crore cubic metres of earthwork over the past three years as part of a large-scale initiative to strengthen water bodies and improve irrigation capacity across the state.
According to water resources department officials, the project exceeded its original target of 203 lakh cubic metres set for the period between 2022-23 and 2024-25.
The campaign focused on desilting and restoring canals, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and other water channels to improve water flow and ensure irrigation reaches even the farthest agricultural areas.
