India, Aug. 14 -- In a major relief for millions of daily commuters, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has directed Ola, Uber, Rapido, and InDrive-to remove "advance tipping" and "add-on" features from their mobile applications that suggest passengers can improve their chances of getting a cab by paying extra before a trip begins.

The Government stated that demanding extra money from passengers to secure or expedite bookings is a violation of consumer rights and goes against established aggregator guidelines. The Government stated that the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025, do not permit such practices.
