Ganga erosion in Bihar swallows land, century-old temple in Raghopur
India, Sept. 2 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday said the situation in Raghopur in Bhagalpur district was "challenging and difficult" as severe erosion by Ganga has swallowed vast stretches of land, causing widespread destruction.
The nearly century-old Chaiti Durga Temple, a revered religious landmark in the area, was swept away by the swollen Ganga during the day.
Choudhary, who also holds the Water Resources Department (WRD) portfolio, told PTI that the situation in Raghopur was "challenging and difficult," with severe erosion taking place along the Ganga.
