India, Sept. 5 -- The Ganga water level at Gandhi Ghat in Patna rose by 10 cm in four hours on Saturday morning, crossing the river's highest flood level by 1 cm and raising the risk of inundation in low-lying areas of the Bihar capital, according to an official bulletin.

The Water Resources Department (WRD) said the Ganga was flowing at 50.53 metres at 10 am, which was 1 cm above the highest flood level.

The water level is expected to rise further to 50.62 metres by 8 am on Sunday, the department said, advising people to exercise caution.
